We were asked by the Brand Marketing team in Nokia, to create a book that celebrated the new Nokia Pure typeface. Using a simple structure gave us the freedom to populate the book with stories following the design journey from initial scribbles to final font. Combining design inspiration, specimen sheets and interviews with typeface creator Bruno Maag, Twenty-Six Characters is a rough guide to typography and it chronicles the typeface’s development as it was meticulously crafted into a distinctive and characterful brand asset.
Twenty-six characters received the Clio Gold Award, an In Book at the D&AD Awards, a Certificate of Typographic Excellence in Print by the Type Directors Club New York, a Silver Cube Award by the Art Directors Club New York and was shortlisted for the Design Week Awards Editorial Design category.
